WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! is a fast-paced action-party game for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) where players must complete a series of randomized "microgames"—extremely short challenges lasting about 5 seconds each.

Gameplay Overview

  • The Microgame Loop: You are given a single-word command (like "Jump!", "Pick!", or "Catch!") and only a few seconds to figure out and execute the task.
  • Escalation: As you progress, the games come at you faster and increase in difficulty.
  • Lives & Bosses: Players typically have four lives per stage. After clearing a set number of microgames, you face a "Boss Stage," which is a longer, more complex challenge without a strict time limit.
  • Simple Controls: Most games use only the D-pad and the A button, making it highly accessible yet reflex-intensive.

Story & Characters

The plot follows Wario, who starts a video game company in Diamond City as a get-rich-quick scheme. Finding the work too tedious, he hires his friends to develop games for him, each representing a different genre:

  • Jimmy T.: Sports-themed games.
  • Mona: "Strange" games based on odd tasks.
  • 9-Volt: Retro Nintendo-themed games (e.g., Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda).
  • Dribble & Spitz: Sci-Fi and action games.
  • Orbulon: Longer "I.Q." games that require more thinking.

Additional Features

  • Over 200 Microgames: The game features a massive library of bite-sized challenges to unlock and master.
  • Unlockable Minigames: Includes full-fledged minigames like Dr. Wario (a version of Dr. Mario), Fly Swatter, and Paper Plane.
  • Single-Handheld Multiplayer: Certain competitive modes allow two players to play on a single GBA system at the same time.
